December Writing Update: Boom or Bust

Life’s been crazy. But I’ve been writing…haven’t I?

Uhh, the answer is…not so much. Just like my reading this past month, my writing has suffered. Lots of kids’ appointments + a weird curveball that so far has turned into a big fat nothing (but I’m holding out hope!) = not much actual pen-on-paper time. Or fingers-on-keyboard time, as the case may be.

But! I am a writer! I slog onward. Which, right now, means that I’m finally starting to plug all of Basically Yours into a new Story Grid that will hopefully reveal allll of its plot issues and show me exactly how I can cut 40,000 words off the manuscript. Yipes. Mostly what’s actually happening is that I’m falling in love with this darn book all over again. Heh.

As for blog posts, I wrote about Scandinavian waffles and my cookbook plan for 2022, shared the best eggnog recipe (which, by the way, freezes and then thaws excellently), word-vomited about the above-mentioned curveball, gave a short grocery budget update, wrote a half-assed (and half-finished, oops) post about my wardrobe purchases in November, and then wrote another very short post about what I read…or really, what I didn’t read in November.

So. There you have it. This month will be better. I’ll post here more regularly, and I’ll make it my goal to finish the Basically Yours story grid. You know, between swim, speech therapy, PT, and general sickness…

I’ve got this. This phase of my life won’t last forever, but you know what will? My writing!
