Weirdo Mulled Cider

Today, according to my Monthly Post Schedule, I’m supposed to be writing about a drink.

The problem is, I’m not sure I have a drink to write about! I’ve been doing a lot of not-drinking since starting THM/really buckling down on my weight goals, because drinks tend to slow my already-slow progress toward the Pre-Baby Weight Holy Grail. And also because it’s no fun to wake up to feed a baby when you’ve had an hour of sleep and are still tipsy from the one cocktail you treated yourself to.

What I have been doing is drinking a lot of THM smoothies and beverages. But I’m not going to verbatim post a recipe from their cookbooks on here because that would be uncharitable and also probably some sort of copyright infringement?

All the same, here’s a sorta-THM recipe, adapted by Yours Truly from Rashida Simpson’s Trim Healthy Future version. It’s intended for consumption by weirdos who don’t want to consume all the sugar in true apple cider, but still want that cozy fall feeling. It’s got ACV. It’s got collagen. It’s got whole spices. I’ll tell you what it doesn’t have is baobab powder, but if you want to add a tablespoon in yourself, I’m not stopping you. But truly, who keeps baobab powder on hand, save for Trim Healthy Mamas like myself?

Weirdo Mulled Cider

Course Drinks
Servings 1

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 pinch whole cloves
  • 3 allspice berries
  • 1 slice ginger root
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp molasses
  • 1 scoop collagen powder
  • 1/2 tsp stevia powder (or to taste)

Instructions
 

  • Mix everything in a pan and simmer for ten minutes or so. Drink up!
